Fall tree planting in Rutland City!

Dave and Nancy finishing up with a tree on Main Street

350 Rutland County loves to plant trees!  This fall, we received a generous grant from the Hills and Hollows Foundation which enabled us to purchase “street ready” trees for planting in areas of sparse canopy in Rutland City.  “Street-ready” means a tree that has a root ball and a trunk that is at least two inches in diameter.  By planting more mature trees from a wide variety of species, we laid the groundwork for ensuring maximum long range success for the trees.

Rutland High School Environmental Club

We were lucky enough to be able to collaborate with the Rutland City Arborists and the Rutland High School Environmental Club.  The educational component of this grant will be fulfilled by a presentation developed by the City Arborist, which will be presented to the Environmental Club in the near future.

Setting down roots for a strong future!

We are truly grateful to all of the participants, and look forward to seeing greener streets next spring.

    1. We are having conversations with people associated with each site about how to ensure maintenance. We are hopeful that these collaborations ensure the longevity of the trees. Thank you for your interest!
